She makes the sound the sea makes

January 27, 2014

A couple of weeks ago I went to see American Hustle at the Coronet theatre in Notting Hill, it served to further my love of the seventies. There really is nothing better than a pair of flares. A pair of flares and pretending to be a seventies cop, that's my idea of a fun day (complete with doughnuts and fake moustache, obviously). The fashion of the decade was very opulent, lots of sparkle and fur and whilst I love a bit of vintage sparkle, the fact that most vintage fur is real fur does give me shivers. So when Dorothy Perkins offered to send me something I practically jumped at the opportunity to own a lovely faux fur coat. I wear it to lift my mood on bad days, you can't be sad when you're a bear*.

In other exciting news I should have lots of sewing projects to share in the upcoming months, I'm costume designer for a production by the drama society at my university and I'm also taking part in a fashion show held by the fashion society. One of the perks of getting a job at the student bar is I have had the opportunity to meet so many new people. One of the setbacks is I have less time in which to photograph outfits, but with the days getting longer I can't wait to get back into the blogging habit.

*I assume no liability for this statement, don't go hugging bears kids.

  2. The seventies is my absolute favourite era for clothes. I love everything about your outfit! Your jeans are perfet and they look like they fit beautifully. The way you've styled them with the round sunglasses and fur coat is so cool. If only it was sunny enough where I am to be wearing sunglasses :) xx

  4. Ahh, I loved American Hustle! If I could get away with the outfits Amy Adams wore every day I'd be a very happy girl indeed!

  5. You carry off those jeans to perfection - sadly, I'd look more like a character on The Big Bang Theory!

And can't wait for you to get back in the blogging habit! I always check in to your lovely blog and was happy to see this new post!

  6. I am a big fan of the seventies. The clothes especially flared jeans really remind me of my childhood. I think my mum kept wearing them way past the seventies. Definitely with you on not liking real fur, I have a vintage faux fur coat and the children call it my bear coat!

Hello, thanks for taking the time to write a comment. I don't always reply (because I'm too busy hiding under a rock) but I read and appreciate every single one!
